BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow’s feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.
BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment Details
The procedure for BOTOX® is simple: Dr. Funt makes a series of tiny injections into the muscles that are causing the wrinkles or lines in the forehead. The area may be numbed with a cold pack or anesthetic cream before administering the injections. Most patients feel nothing more than a quick pinch or sting like a bug bite. The whole procedure takes about ten minutes.
BOTOX Recovery and Side Effects
Possible side effects of BOTOX® treatments include redness or discomfort at the injection sites, muscle weakness and pain in the face. These usually fade after the first week. Other possible side effects include headache, respiratory infection, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea.
